DO NOT EVER BRING YOUR KIDS HERE! So my wife and I decided to try Sports Clips for our young son because we had never been there and had heard good things. We arrived with my 1 year old son who needed one of his first haircuts. We only had to wait about 15 minutes which was great. My wife, son and I walked back with the stylist, and she asked if he would sit by himself or on our lap. We said we are not sure so she said let's try to have him sit on my lap. I showed her a picture of what we wanted for him to which she just responded with a snappy "Okay!" We were both kind of confused by this response. She began to put a cape on me as our 1 year old would be sitting in my lap and then suddenly turned to my wife who was standing by us and said "Okay! You can take a seat now". My wife just responded with "Okay?". We were both questioning this response as we have always both stood by our kids especially when they are very young. The stylist suddenly ripped the cape right from my neck to which my wife asked, "Are you not going to cut his hair if I stand here with him?" The stylist said yes to which my wife responded, "This is my one-year-old getting one of his first hair cuts, are you serious?". The stylist just said, "That's cute!". In a very snarky tone. That is when my wife and I politely responded that we were going to leave. I don't know whether she just does not like kids or was having a bad day but no hairstylist should ever treat a parent like this! I did not catch the stylists name but the two there were Gomez and Bob.

Hair stylists name was Becca. I have been going to this sports clips since they opened. I get my haircut at least once every 30 days. I usually take whoever is available.Today it was Becca. after our first three exchanges of sentences I knew this would not be a good experience and from the moment I sat down in her chair, I could not wait to leave the store. I was greeted and asked to put on a mask which is no problem for me. However, since they reopened this was the first time in about three or four haircut trips that I was asked to put on a mask. Again, this is not a problem for me. I tried to spark up conversation by asking "Oh, when did you guys start enforcing this?". She replied in a very teacher-like voice "It's corporate policy". Which is fine, I understand that but I was curious as to what caused the sudden change because I have gotten my haircut several times since the virus without a mask on. Again I don't mind wearing a mask. So I asked "oh but when did you guys start enforcing it?". She said in her teacher like voice "since the pandemic started". I knew this was incorrect so I explained to her "I'm not complaining and I don't mind wearing a mask but I'm just curious because I've been here several times and not had to wear one why all of a sudden?" (Thinking that maybe corporate came down on them which would have been a decent response to my question) . And she again replied in her teacher like voice "corporate policy". I knew this was not going to be a pleasant haircutting experience and from then on I just wanted to leave. I usually get an MVP but being that I just wanted out of there I just said give me the haircut and the rinse. As we went back to rinse my hair, I asked her if she could use tea tree shampoo because it is the one thing I enjoy about my haircut and rinse is feeling that tingly feeling. Her reply was, "I can't because I'm allergic". The entire experience felt very forced and non-friendly. Most hair stylists there will look at the receipt and see what I normally get for a haircut and say, t"he usual?". again, I'm not complaining about wearing a mask and I understand it is important. But I was just trying to spark up a conversation about why things may have changed because it's the store I normally go to. If this is a customer-oriented business, one of the best shampoos around is that tea tree oil feeling, not being able to salvage this horrendous experience with at least a shampoo of my liking was a complete letdown. A day, I am a vet and I've always been charged a veteran's discount. I don't like flaunting it or asking for it and normally they just automatically put it on there. However, today I was irate at the experience so I made a comment before she rang me up saying I'm a vet. She ignored me and charged me the regular price which I replied to her "okay, I'm a vet but it's no big deal I don't mind paying the regular price". Normally when I have a great experience I don't mind tipping 50% or more. If I get a good haircut for 25 bucks I have no problem throwing down 10 bucks as a tip. Any of the other hair stylists will probably attest to this. However, this experience left me feeling like I made a mistake and should have just went over to the other location in Prescott where I will go and get my haircut If I do it in the middle of the day while I am at work. I so bad wanted to talk to a manager to explain my experience because it is my opinion that this woman is not very personable or friendly to talk to. I am a friendly customer who enjoys talking it up with my stylist but after the first few sentences, I really just wanted to leave and also wished I had never shown up.
